In 2021 we lost 178 lives to workplace illness or injury in Alberta. Distressingly, this number is not entirely accurate. It only accounts for cases that were accepted by WCB. Unfortunately, there will be many whose cases were not accepted who still succumbed to their illness or injury.

We would like to take today to remember those lives that were lost, as well as their family and friends, who have had their own lives changed forever by losing their loved one(s).

We recommit ourselves to the never-ending fight for workplace health and safety. Every single worker, no matter the job, deserves to work in safe conditions. They deserve to come home safe at the end of the day. No worker is just a number or a means to an end. Every single life is valuable and precious and we will always do our utmost to protect that.
