A message of appreciation from Bill Johnson

I would like to thank all the members that supported me as a full-time officer as your Recording Secretary, Maintenance Office representative. Over the last 15 years we were able to achieve some good things and other still need work up to and including today. I have had the honour of fighting beside my many brothers and sisters in many clashes with management. We have fought through a strike, through many labour conflicts, through Covid, we have won many grievances over the years and won the right for many to remain on the job, through all the trials and tribulations we remained together and stayed strong.

I can’t say that I am not disappointed that I won’t get to work with this team another term, as I have witnessed what teamwork can accomplish. My focus has always been YOU the membership, because I truly believe that all of you move this City!

I am thrilled to be part of attaining the four-day work week in the maintenance area and the apprentices in the trades, having sat on the team that was successful in bringing two respectable contracts to the membership during the last two rounds of negotiations as well as acquiring our new building.

I have always been extremely proud of representing ATU 583 on many platforms, AFL, CLC, CDLC, ATU International and for the past years as your Western Representative on the ATU Canada board.

Thank you for your support, for giving me the honour of being your Recording Secretary/Maintenance Office and a Full Time ATU 583 Officer.

In Solidarity,
Bill Johnson
