Many ATU Local 583 members helped out during the Calgary Food Bank’s annual Stuff A Bus Event, with 20 buses parked at Co-op locations throughout the city. Over at the Hampton’s Co-op location Garry Goddard was manning the Calgary Transit bus being used to load up hampers while Rick Ratcliff and Zul Vira greeted shoppers and asked for donations to this worthy cause. Of course, Calgarians were incredibly generous!
The spokesperson for the Calgary Food Bank, Shawna Ogston had this to say “We couldn’t do it without all the Calgary Transit drivers … they load up more than 20 buses with the food for the day and that helps us get ready for the busy season. The Stuff-A-Bus is so important because not only is it our unofficial launch for the giving season, but it makes sure we have the shelf stock and that we are ready for the busy season.”
Last year the event raised over $58,000 and 51,000 pounds of food for Calgarians in need and ATU 583 members are proud to help!
