2018 A.T.U. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
In Memory Of:
Thomas Clement “Tommy” Douglas
The 2018 scholarships are in remembrance of the man who led the fight in Canada to provide health insurance for all. Thomas Clement “Tommy” Douglas, who passed away February 24, 1986, was often called “the greatest Canadian”.
This year, the program will consist of five scholarships, each in the amount of $8,000.00. In addition a $2,000.00 scholarship may be awarded to a vocational school applicant.
To be eligible applicants must be either:
a) An ATU member in good standing.
b) Child, step-child or legally adopted child of such a member or of a deceased member who was in good standing at the time of his or her death.
c) A grandchild (naturally or legally adopted) of a member of the ATU in good standing or of a deceased member who was in good standing at the time of his or her death.
Applicants must be high school seniors planning to enter college (or technical or vocational post-secondary school) for the first time following graduation during the 2017-2018 school year, or previous high school graduates that have never attended college.
